I’ve studied the United States Government since high school and always had an interest in history. At a Capitol, the two subjects converge into a physical structure that is supposed to be meaningful for all it represents.
After visiting a few capitols around the Washington, DC area, I realized that all of them told stories about their respective states that I had not heard. Whereas we all know the general story of the United States (some better than others), each state offers its own traditions, heroes, symbols, and points of pride.
One day (hopefully soon) I’ll be working on how communities grow and develop through transportation. Before that, I want to see what different communities hold up as their lynchpins. There are many stories that I will never hear, and others that I won’t come close to understanding. Though I wish to provide as complete a picture as I can, I must also limit my goals to a reasonable size.
Thanks for joining me on my journey.
